Creator Spotlight: Drach’nyen

Welcome to our Creator spotlight!

Continuing our series of Space Engineers Creator Spotlights with Drach’nyen.

My name is Alex, I live in Brazil and I love building sci-fi ships!

I’ve been playing this game since release, as the idea of (at least in my mind at the time) a “space minecraft-like game” ALWAYS hooked me on, even though at the time I had zero “building skills”. Many years later, I found out about the Culture Series by the late Iain M. Banks, a wonderful series of books! And got immediately captivated by the ship’s Minds and speculative designs, so I thought, why not try doing that on SE, you know, I could really improve my building skills and do with a good challenge.

That was the start of it all, from my very obscure early workshop submissions of Culture ROUs/GSVs/CGUs to my latest Necron and Imperial ships from the 40K universe, since that first ship in 2021 (or 22? I don’t really remember), my skills and confidence on building different stuff has gone up and up, to the point I’ve started to make things that had never been attempted before (big shout to my Pulsar-class from The Expanse, and the Cairn-class Tombship that is to be released).

My building process is quite simple, I’ll look for something that has never been done before, get some images of it and hammer away at a creative world, until it ends up how I want!
Last year I suffered a major accident and broke my back, I am now wheelchair-bound, so SE has been one of my few refuges and sources of entertainment and pleasure. I’ve literally built my Apocalypse-class Battleship on the hospital bed recovering from surgery!

This game is, in simple terms, amazing. Even if there are some constraints of a “block” world, you can do almost anything that pops up in your mind, so to anyone who has dreams of building that “impossible” ship, go for it! You absolutely CAN do it, and with the grid system in SE2 the possibilities are, literally, endless. Thank you Keen, and thank you all to the amazing builders and modders who inspired me over all these years.

This was your local friendly daemon sword speaking, see ya!”

Gathering Storm – Pulsar-class Fast Attack Destroyer

“The destroyer- Holden had called it Gathering Storm- looked like a natural crystal formation that someone had chipped into a knife. The colors were all translucent pinks and blues, faceted like a gem.

She spotted something at the tail that probably served as the ships’ drive cone but didn’t look like anything like the UN or Martian designs she was familiar with.”

MCRN Ryūjin Jakka

“All things in the universe, turn to ashes!”

If there ever was a ship that embodied such a phrase, this is it, with over 1000 weapons, from Singularity Cannons to Foehammer Railguns, there is one ship to rule them all, and in their ashes bind them.

[40K] Nihilakh Ascendant – Cairn-class Tombship

A true behemoth of the Void, straight from the Vaults of Solemnace, this relic from the days of the War in Heaven helped shatter numerous C’tan and therefor has three Shards imprisoned in its Tesseract Labyrinths, a vessel like no other, a fleet in itself, this is the ship to rule ALL ships in 40k void engagements, a fitting flagship for the Overlord of the Nihilakh Dynasty and ruler of Solemnace.
