Survival Guide: Buffs
Life in the void can be harsh, but endurance has its rewards. The longer your character survives in Space Engineers, the more resilient they become – unlocking buffs and perks that reflect their survival experiences.
Enabling the Buff System
If you’d like to enable or disable the buff system in your world, you can find it in the World Options menu under the Survival heading. In most survival worlds this system is on by default.

Gaining and Losing Buffs
Earning buffs is simple – stay alive. The longer your engineer survives the better their buffs will be, gaining a new level every 45 minutes. You can gain a maximum of 5 levels, each level granting a larger benefit than the last. Tread carefully though, death will cause all of your buffs to be lost – starting you back at base values.

You can view your active buffs in the buff overview window (Shift+B by default), which will display all the enhancements your character has earned.

The longer your character lives, the stronger they become – but every risk carries the weight of losing it all. Survival is both your reward and your challenge.
